Summit for Life Benefitting the Chris Klug Foundation

Event Description

The 3rd Annual Summit for Life Uphill Race invites local enthusiasts and regional sports junkies to charge up over 3,000 vertical feet to the top of Aspen Mountain using their preferred choice of lighting and non-motorized equipment – snowshoes, skins and other creative means in the dead of night. This marks the first year that there will be two different start times. Recreational athletes will start at 5 p.m. and competitive athletes will start at 6 p.m. The public is invited to a party following the race atop Aspen Mountain to enjoy live music, drinks, food and an awards ceremony. The event will benefit the Chris Klug Foundation.

Summit for Life
In this exciting event, contestants race from the base all the way to the top of Aspen Mountain. They will climb 3,267 vertical feet – over 2.5 miles uphill and at night! Racers can choose their own lighting and non-motorized equipment like snowshoes, skins or other creative gear. Go at your own pace! Racers of all physical abilities and ages are welcome to participate!

NEW IN 2008: TWO DIFFERENT START TIMES
5:15 PM Recreational Start: For climbers that anticipate taking longer than two hours to reach the top or for first-timers or hikers that want to take their time. 6:00 PM Competitive Start: For climbers that anticipate finishing in under two hours.

Ride for Life
Skip the uphill hike altogether! Ride the Silver Queen Gondola straight to the summit to enjoy dinner, dancing and cheering on the athletes as they come through the finish line.

Snowed In
For those of you who want to support the event but don’t want to leave the warmth of your lodge or home, you can opt to be 'Snowed In' and still show your support!

The event will benefit the Chris Klug Foundation.

Registration Information

• Registration Opens September 1, 2008. You may register as an individual or as part of the a 3 person team.
• Cost $40 required registration fee on or before Friday, December 5th and $50 the day of the race. By registering you are also committing to raise $160 in requested pledges, however, there is a minimum of $60 in pledges required.
• Includes race, dinner at the Sundeck, live music and gift bag!
