Power of 4 — 4 Closing Day Celebrations

The Power of Four means that you have an invite to four closing day celebrations! Each mountain in Aspen Snowmass has its own personality, and each closing day party brings that out in spades. Experience the closing day energy for yourself this spring!

Here’s what you can expect at each mountain.

Buttermilk MountainClosing Day is April 3, 2016
Arrive with an empty stomach; you’ll soon fill up on bacon waffles followed by just about every kind of food that pairs well with bacon. Buttermilk Mountain is known for closing out the season with Bacon Appreciation Day. All over the mountain, from the lifts to the ski patrol to the restaurants, everyone is celebrating another great season with lots of smiles and bellies full of bacon.

At Snowmass Mountain, you can cruise down your favorite blues one more time before you make the switch to hiking boots and mountain bikes. Grab your last freshly-baked cookie of the season at Up 4 Pizza. Lounge and lunch in the sun at Lynn Britt Cabin. And after you make that last turn, join the après-ski scene in Snowmass Village Mall and restaurants. Aspen Highlands closes the same day, which means you can fit in two closing day parties in one day!

Aspen HighlandsClosing Day is April 10, 2016
This year, Aspen Highlands is hosting Schneetag (pronounced “sch-knee-tog”). So, what is Schneetag? It translates from German as “snow day”. Taking inspiration from the snow days of our youth, Schneetag is a pond skimming event that’s all about playing, laughing, and having a good time. The event involves teams racing down a hill and over a jump in a DIY watercraft that they hope will skim over an ice-cold pond; some crafts fall to bits before even reaching the pond, and others make it part way or completely across the pond. Check out this crazy closing day event at the base of Aspen Highlands.

Aspen Mountain keeps it simple on closing day because, if there’s more snow on its way in May, it might not even be closing day! On the hill, you can expect a lighthearted mood and lots of smiles from fellow skiers and riders. Everyone is excited to get in one more day this season, and you should be, too. Zip down your favorite runs before the lifts stop for the season.
