Who could say no to enjoying the holiday season in Aspen Snowmass? When you spend the holidays here, you have skiing
, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sledding, building snowmen, cross country skiing, a new alpine coaster
, snowmobiling, performances of The Nutcracker, hot air ballooning, ice skating, beautiful holiday decorations, dining, and festive events, including the 12 Days of Aspen
from December 20–31, 2017. There’s a lot happening during the 12 Days of Aspen, so we’re only going to highlight the family-friendly craft making events, which we’ve compiled below.
December 20, 2017
On the first day of the 12 Days of Aspen, visit the Pitkin County Library to make your own holiday craft at the library’s LAB. The library will supply materials and instructions on how to make your holiday craft. This crafting activity is free and available all day. While you’re at the library, bring a nonperishable food item to support the library’s Food for Fines to benefit Lift-Up. Each nonperishable food item you donate removes $1 from your library fines, and if you don’t have any fines, bring a nonperishable item to help families in need during this season of giving.
The library will host holiday craft making at THE LAB every day of the 12 Days of Aspen except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Also on December 20, The St. Regis
will host a kids-only holiday gift making event at 3:30 and 4:30 PM. Reservations are recommended. Call The St. Regis Aspen at 970-920-3300 to make a reservation.
December 22, 2017
Make your holiday craft at the library, and also check out the Present Wrapping Party from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The library will supply present wrapping materials and refreshments. After the Present Wrapping Party wraps up at 1:00 PM, head over to the Hotel Jerome
Grand Ballroom for free cookie decorating from 1:00 – 3:30 PM. Then, at 3:30 and 4:30 PM, The St. Regis will host a holiday stocking decorating event. Reservations are recommended. Call The St. Regis Aspen at 970-920-3300 to make a reservation.
December 23, 2017
The Aspen Art Museum will host their free Palm Tree Family Workshop at 10:00 AM. Parents and children will create a “Palm Tree Holiday” while enjoying free cookies and hot chocolate.
December 28, 2017
Make your holiday craft at the Pitkin County Library. Then, head to the Hotel Jerome Library next door for Story Time with Jill Sheeley from 3:30 – 4:30 PM. The Story Time with Jill is free with cookies and hot chocolate provided.
December 31, 2017
The 31st is the final day of the 12 Days of Aspen. Happy New Year’s Eve! Today, you can make holiday crafts at the library, ski a few runs, après-ski, enjoy New Year’s Eve dinner, and then, watch the free fireworks show over Aspen Mountain. The family-friendly show is at 8:00 PM, and there’s a second show at midnight.
