Late winter in the Colorado Rockies is a favorite time for many skiers and snowboarders to book a spring ski vacation
. The end of the ski season often brings with it diminished crowds and some of the biggest powder days of the year.
Those big powder days are often followed by blue skies and warm temps that create the perfect atmosphere for lively spring skiing. If it’s not a powder day in Aspen Snowmass, don’t be surprised if you see locals zipping around the slopes in short sleeves and fun costumes. Better yet, join in the fun with a goofy costume of your own!
Along with some of the best ski conditions of the season, spring skiers at Aspen Snowmass can partake in the raucous annual tradition of ski mountain closing day parties. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk Mountain are first to close up shop for the winter. Both will be hosting closing day celebrations on April 8, 2018. Aspen Mountain and Snowmass Mountain follow a week behind and celebrate the end of the season on April 15, 2018.
Each mountain has its own unique closing day tradition. Buttermilk pays homage to America’s favorite breakfast food with Bacon Appreciation Day. Snowmass has a pond skim competition called Schneetag
in which costume-clad teams try to skim across an icy pond on homemade crafts. Aspen Mountain hosts a range of on-mountain activities followed by a lively party at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola.
The most-loved celebration of them all is assuredly the Aspen Highlands closing day party. The on-mountain Cloud Nine bistro erupts with revelry and the party at the base of the Aspen Highlands is arguably the biggest of the entire year in Aspen.
Come join in the fun this spring and get 40% off when you book your spring ski vacation package with travel dates between April 1, 2018 and April 15, 2018.
