The Complete Guide to Aspen Snowmass Closing Days 2019
It’s not “goodbye”, it’s “see you next season”. Having four mountains means having plenty of ways to celebrate an incredible season. And a snowy season it’s been - it was the second snowiest March on record in Aspen Snowmass and Aspen Highlands totaled 338 inches of snow from November to March.
If you’re joining us for the next few weekends, be sure to pack your sunglasses, crazy outfits, and sunscreen and get ready to party. Here’s your 2019 guide to Aspen Snowmass closing weekends.
Buttermilk - April 7
Bacon Appreciation Day
In celebration of Buttermilk’s closing day, the mountain hosts an annual Bacon Appreciation Day. Featuring a schedule of all things bacon, treat yourself to bacon waffles at the Cliffhouse, bacon doughnuts from ColoraDough, and bacon samplers around the mountain. There will be live music, an outdoor bar, face painting, kids’ games and a bacon and beer happy hour at Bumps.
After a day of spring skiing/riding, don’t miss out on performances by headliners Umphrey’s McGee and The String Cheese Incident at the base of Buttermilk for the new spring concert, The Après
! Single-day tickets and 3-day packages are still available. Opening acts of the festival will also play live music at all four mountains from 12 - 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Snowmass - April 21
Snowmass’ closing day is set for April 21, but the party happens Saturday, April 20. Don your leis, swimsuits and Hawaiian gear and head to the Elk Camp Surf & Snow Party. For the third year in a row, Elk Camp Restaurant at Snowmass will host an end-of-season party complete with a dance party and margarita blender bikes. Be sure to show off your skills at the Pond Skim!
After the party on the mountain is over, keep the party going at Snowmass Base Village!
Aspen Mountain - April 21
Aspen Mountain is throwing it back to big hair and neon to celebrate closing day with 80’s Prom at the Sundeck
, sponsored by Gosling Rum. Pull that old prom dress out of the closet and start brushing up on your favorite classic hits. DJ Dylan will be playing at the Sundeck from 11am - 4pm.
Following the 80's Prom party, ski down to Ajax Tavern to close out the ski season with street-food inspired bites, drink specials and a DJ. Get ready to dance in your ski boots until the sun sets.
Aspen Highlands - April 28
The hardworking Ski Patrol of Aspen Highlands has a closing day tradition of hiking supplies up to the top of Highland Bowl to host an informal BBQ (weather permitting). After a Bowl lap, we suggest stopping by the deck of Cloud Nine to sing, dance and celebrate the close out of winter before heading down to the base.
The base area of Aspen Highlands and the deck of Highlands Alehouse transforms into a full-on party with locals, guests, live music, and some of the best costumes of the year.
